This guide is intended to be used to prompt your prayers for this region. Many scriptures are provided in order to root your prayers in truths and promises that God has expressed in His Word. Feel free to adapt it according to God’s leading (We thank Tom Stuart at Ignited2Pray for making this available for our use - see his website listed at bottom)

OPENING DECLARATIONS Jeremiah 29:7

Lord you tell us to “seek the welfare of the city where [you] have sent us into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare we will find our welfare.” (ESV)

Proverbs 11:10-11

You’ve promised that “when it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness. By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.” (ESV)
Lord I want to take my place on the wall and guard my town and region for your glory. I declare that your kingdom plans and purposes will be fulfilled and that the enemy will not have his way on my watch.

PRAYERS FOR THE LOCAL CHURCHES

I pray for the church which is your body in this place. Make it a house of prayer and a “city set on a hill that cannot be hidden,” salt and light in our community that preserves and safeguards us from evil and heralds the gospel of your kingdom to all who have ears to hear, thereby ushering in your end time purposes. (Mark 11:17 & Matthew 5:13-14 ESV)

PRAYERS FOR REVIVAL

Send revival to the churches that will restore first love devotion to Jesus, a passion to seek Him in prayer and a love for the things that please the heart of God that will overflow into our community with righteous living, good deeds and evangelistic witness.
Psalm 80:18
“Revive us so we can call on your name once more.” (NLT)
Psalm 85:6

“Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you?” (NLT)

May your people go forth into their neighborhoods, workplaces and the marketplace with boldness to evangelize our city and county for your glory. Confirm their word with signs that follow, bring conviction of sin righteousness and judgment, release words of knowledge, the power of God to heal the sick and bring to salvation those whom the Father has ordained.

Isaiah 43:4-7

You promised that

4 “since [we] are precious and honored in [your] sight and because [you] love [us], you will give people in exchange for [us].”
We need not be afraid for you are with us.
5“Bring [us spiritual] children from the east and gather [them] from the west.

6 [We] say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring [us spiritual] sons from afar and daughters from the ends of the earth.”(NIV)

John 16:8

Holy Spirit, bring conviction of “sin, righteousness and judgment.” (ESV)
Proverbs 8:13 & 9:10
Release the fear of the Lord which is the hatred of evil and the beginning of wisdom.
Isaiah 64:1-3
“Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you! As when fire sets twigs ablaze and causes water to boil, come down to make your name known to your enemies and cause the nations to quake before you!” For in the past “when You did awesome things that we did not expect, You came down, and the mountains trembled before you.” (NIV)

Habakkuk 3:2

“Lord [we] have heard of your fame and stand in awe of your deeds. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known! In wrath remember mercy!” (NIV)
Send revival! Mark the boundaries of this city/county/region for salvation! Open the eyes of the blind and let your light shine into the darkness, in Jesus mighty name! (2 Corinthians 4:4,6)

I declare to the Church of Jesus Christ

Isaiah 60:1-3

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the land and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” Matthew 5:13-14

Lord raise up your church as salt and light, a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden.

Isaiah 59:19

You have promised that “when the enemy shall come in, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against him.” (KJV)
Matthew 16:18
And that “the gates of hell shall not prevail against” your church.

PRAYERS OF REPENTANCE

Lord have mercy on our City, County, region as we repent:
I/we confess that we and the inhabitants/citizens of this region have sinned greatly against you in thought, word and deed.
Nehemiah 1:7
“We have acted very corruptly against you and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, and the rules that you commanded your servant Moses.” (ESV)
Jeremiah 2:13
We “have forsaken [you], the fountain of living water and have dug [our] own cisterns, broken cisterns that hold no water.” (NIV)
Exodus 34:6-7
Lord you are also “the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness . . . forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin” of all who call upon you. (NIV)

Have mercy on us, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out our transgressions. Wash away all our iniquity and cleanse us from our sin. (Psalm 86:5, Psalm 51:1-2, also Psalm 103:8, 145:8)

PRAYERS FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT
1 Timothy 2:1-4
Lord your word commands:
1 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—

2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (NIV)

Lord in order that “we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” and that “all people [will] be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth” I pray for our governmental leaders and all those in authority.
Proverbs 21:1

Since we know that “The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes.” (NAS) Guide them in their decisions and actions that they might fulfill your purposes and give honor and glory to you.
James 3:17

We ask you to give them wisdom from above that is “first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” (NIV)
Provide righteous, honest, God-fearing leaders and influencers. Cause them to turn to and honor you as the source of their wisdom and power.

Daniel 2:21

“He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” (NIV)
Lord, raise-up righteous, wise and God-fearing people to govern us and put down the wicked. Cleanse our city and county government of unrighteous leaders, decisions and dealings.

Expose the darkness and deceit in our city and county government including all hidden agendas and subversive activities, corruption, collusion, bribery, extortion, embezzlement, racketeering, financial mismanagement and fiscal waste.
Ecclesiastes 12:14

“For God will bring every deed into judgment including every hidden thing whether it is good or evil.” (NIV)
In the mighty name of Jesus I stand for righteousness in my city and county and against every evil and corruption.

Give them supernatural wisdom, insight and intelligence to uncover and lead them to people

and organizations that are sources of wickedness, criminal activity and perpetration of evil in our cities and county.

Lord I pray also for all:

CARING FOR THE POOR & HOMELESS

Father, I pray for all the poor and homeless in our region. May good news and freedom be proclaimed to them, open the prison doors of poverty and let light shine into their darkness and despair. (Isaiah 61:1-2) Set the lonely in families. (Psalm 68:6)

Bless all those who minister to these people. Provide finances, resources and workers. Give them compassion, wisdom and grace as they dispense help and resources to those in need.

Father, I pray for all those who are in mental and physical affliction. Bind up the brokenhearted, comfort those who mourn and release your healing grace. (Isaiah 61:3) Bless and Protect all Caregivers including doctors, nurses, personal care attendants and our: Medical Facilities (list by name where applicable)

PRAYERS FOR BUSINESSES & THE MARKETPLACE

Prosper and Protect the righteous and put down the wicked. Raise up God honoring business leaders and entrepreneurs. Guide them and supernatural solutions in their research and manufacturing. Cause our area economy to thrive!

Factories, manufacturing, start up companies,

Businesses (list by name where applicable)

2. Bless Legitimate Businesses
Expose and Close all Illegitimate and Wicked Businesses promoting and conducting business

in pornography, gambling, prostitution, human trafficking, drug dealing & drug houses, meth labs, arms dealing, identity thieves, cyber criminals etc.

3. Abortion Clinics - Father, I pray for those in crisis considering or seeking an abortion. Guide them to wise and compassionate counsel who will help them find peace in choosing life and securing a hope filled future for both them and their baby.

PRAYERS FOR SCHOOLS

Bless and Protect our children and youth. Build a hedge of protection around them in Jesus name!
We pray for all Public/Charter/Private/Home Schools, Pre-schools & Day Care Homes/ Centers

Let your name, your word and your ways be honored among them. Since your word says that
Psalm 127:3
Children are a heritage from the Lord. (NIV) and . . .

Luke 17:2

It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. (NIV)
I pray for your nourishing care and protection of the children and youth. Shield them from deceitful humanistic teachings and ungodly values. Guard them from abuse and molestation by sexual predators and from the enticing unclean spirits of the age. Bind the spirit of despair and suicide, break every chain of darkness and set the captives free.

Bring to light and expose all those plotting evil, intent upon committing murder and wrecking havoc in the schools.

Bless and strengthen all teachers to promote truth and righteousness in all the efforts to instruct their students. May Your purposes be fulfilled in each student.
Lord, I pray specifically for the schools in my area.

PRAYERS FOR AREA MEDIA, ARTS, AND ENTERTAINMENT

Into these areas of society we pray let Your Kingdom come (Your rule and goodness dominate), and let Your will be done (that the perversions and lies of the evil one be thwarted and that the will and purposes of the Father be fulfilled).

1. Bless and guide all area news outlets, TV, newspapers, online, etc that their reporting aligns with truth. This includes:

2. Bless and guide all involved in the arts. Impart creativity that will reflect Your beauty and honor Your truth.

3. Bless and guide all involved in the local entertainment industry (sports, media, theaters, music, etc). Prevent the evil one from influencing these for his destructive purposes.

PRAYERS FOR PROTECTION FROM TERRORISM

Father I pray for your blessing on my city/county/region. May you deliver us from evil and danger. Rise up and defend the weak and powerless.
Thwart the plans of every schemer of wickedness, mentally deranged, demon possessed, the drug, alcohol and chemical influenced, mass murderer, terrorist, arms fanatic, religious radical and jihadist.

Psalm 55:1-3, 9, 11, 23

1 “Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea;
2 hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught
3 because of what my enemy is saying, because of the threats of the wicked.
9 Lord, confuse the wicked, confound their words, for I see violence and strife in the city.
11 Destructive forces are at work in the city, threats and lies never leave its streets.
23 But you, God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of decay, the bloodthirsty and deceitful will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in You.” (NIV)

Psalm 10:2

“Let the wicked be caught in the evil they plan for others.” (NLT)

Bring into the light the secret things done in darkness.

1 Corinthians 4:5 (Also Matthew 10:26)
“He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart.” (NIV)
Once again I pray: Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil and danger. Prevent evil from befalling your chosen, righteous and innocent ones. Rise up and defend the weak and powerless
